Canaan Lake was located in Patchogue, off of Traction Blvd. I remember as a kid in the '70s, there was a small beach area where locals would come to swim. I saw it again in 2003 and it looked like a weed choked retention pond. Probably better off "environmentally" but no longer had that small town swimmin' hole charm.
