This category was nominated for deletion, renaming, or merging with another category on 2008 February 18. The result of the discussion was no consensus.

Why were so many people in this category: two people I removed where in it despite their wikipedia entry providing specific, credible claims that they did not arrive at their imprisonment through deportation.

Even more confusing, what is the category about? Ernst Zundel isn't Canadian, and never was. He just lived there for a long time. Maher Arar is Canadian, but was not deported from Canada. Is the page about people who are deported -from- Canada? Or about Canadians who are deported -from- some place?
