Is there a difference between comics writers and cartoonists? (Especially considering that Lynn Johnston for example is on the cartoonists list). -- BoojiBoy, 23:21, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Yes, a cartoonist is an artist and writer. A writer is just a writer.
- Although there is a distinction, I think this makes it hard to have the various categories correctly populated. I think canadian cartoonists, comics writers and comics artists should all be merged. Pascal.Tesson 23:07, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- oppose There is a good distinction and it is one made in the rest of the related categories for other nationalities. If you wish to merge this then it would require broader discussion as part of the comics project. (Emperor 21:36, 13 June 2007 (UTC))
- oppose as well, it would seem a move in the wrong direction when we should maybe try to clarify the terms instead. A project-wide discussion on this would be good. MURGH disc. 01:51, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- oppose — a comic-book writer or artist is distinct from a cartoonist, just as an animation screenwriter or storyboard artist is different from a cartoonist. --Tenebrae (talk) 21:02, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
