I've started categorizing CFL players by position, and reorganizing this whole category tree a bit. We might want to rename Category:Canadian Football League players by position and subcats to Category:Canadian football players by position (like Category:American football players by position). After all, a CFL player is a Canadian football player. There aren't many articles about non-CFL Canadian football players yet, but there will be more eventually. Btw, I edited {{Canadianfootball-stub}} to say "Canadian football-related" instead of "CFL-related" and added the little football icon. Thoughts? heqs 07:50, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
I think we should ultimately do the move above as I suggested. Basically just copy the system they have in place over at Category:American football. Note the subcat Category:American football players by nationality - the assumption is that players of American football are American (there is no "American American football players" category). So it should be with Canadian football - even if probably more than half the articles about players of Canadian football on here are about Americans (right now I'd say Canadian CFL players are a bit under-represented on here). Would we then make a Category:American Canadian football players category, similar to Category:Canadian American football players? I just don't see how else this whole structure will make sense. We also have a few articles in here about pre-CFL/IRFU/WIFU/ORFU players, and will eventually have a few about notable Canadian college (CIS/CIAU) players that didn't play in the CFL.
