Canyondam is a census-designated place (CDP) in Plumas County, California, United States. The population was 37 as of the 2000 census.

Canyondam is located at 40°10′12″N, 121°4′32″W (40.169921, -121.075586)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.0 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 37 people, 21 households, and 11 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 48.0 people per square mile (18.6/km²). There were 62 housing units at an average density of 80.5/sq mi (31.1/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 89.19% White, and 10.81% Native American.

There were 21 households out of which 14.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 33.3% were married couples living together, 4.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 47.6% were non-families. 42.9% of all households were made up of individuals and none had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.76 and the average family size was 2.18.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 13.5% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 16.2% from 25 to 44, 43.2% from 45 to 64, and 21.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 50 years. For every 100 females there were 117.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 128.6 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $40,104, and the median income for a family was $35,000. Males had a median income of $0 versus $41,250 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $22,620. None of the population and none of the families were below the poverty line.

In the state legislature Canyondam is located in the 1st Senate District, represented by Republican Dave Cox, and in the 3rd Assembly District, represented by Republican Rick Keene. Federally, Canyondam is located in California's 4th congressional district, which has a Cook PVI of R +11[3] and is represented by Republican John Doolittle.
