Canyon Vista Middle School (CVMS) is a middle school located in Austin, Texas. It is part of the Round Rock Independent School District. It has three subsidiary elementary schools:
- Laurel Mountain Elementary School
- Kathy Caraway Elementary School ***Formerly North Oaks Elementary***
- Spicewood Elementary School (Some Spicewood students go to Grisham Middle School after they graduate from Spicewood)
It follows on to Westwood High School.
In 1986, Canyon Vista had an extension built to accommodate at least 200 extra lockers as well as 10 extra rooms.
Canyon Vista has won two National Blue Ribbon School awards from the United States Department of Education (1990-91 and 1999-2000 [2]) and has also been chosen by the Texas Education Agency as one of the top ten middle schools in Texas. In 2007, it was named one of the "Best Schools in Texas" by Texas Monthly.[citation needed] In 2007, Canyon Vista also was awarded the TBEC award.[citation needed]
