Canyon View High School (Cedar City, Utah)

Canyon View High School (AKA 'CV' and 'CVHS' was established in 1997 in Cedar City, Utah. Its mascot is the Falcon. The school colors are black, silver, and teal. It has approximately 1,100 students and 50 faculty members. Its current principal is Jennifer Wood and the assistant principal is Kevin Pedersen.[1]

This school belongs to Iron County School District, Region 9 and is a 3A school.

With the city growing fast, Cedar High School was gaining more students they could even hold. The Iron County School District needed to expand. They created Canyon View High School in 1997. Canyon View occupies the students on the north side of Cedar City and high school students in Enoch, Utah.

Not knowing of the future growth of the school, in 1999, the Iron County School District released they were building a new Canyon View High School building just across the street from the already newly built school. In the fall of 2000, students were finally able to enter the current building of Canyon View.

The old building became Canyon View Middle School which currently holds all middle school students in Cedar City and Enoch.

Canyon View is known for its fine arts programs. The Canyon View Wind Ensemble received straight ones, the highest marks, at State Festival in 2006. The marching band also took First Place, a Superior rating, Outstanding Music, Outstanding Visual, and Outstanding General Effect in Division A at the 2007 Las Vegas Invitational. The Canyon View Jazz Band traveled to Disneyland for the music festival two years in a row in the Spring of 1999 and 2000 and received many honors. CV hame the trophy for Hurricane's Annual Fantasy Art contest four years in a row.

The boys' basketball team won the 3A State Championship in 1999.

The girls' basketball team won the Region 9 Championship in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007, taking the 3A State Championship in 2006.

The softball team won the 3A State Championship in 2006.

Varsity sports at Canyon View include football, baseball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, wrestling, softball, golf, track, cross country, drill team, basketball, swimming, and water polo.

Canyon View also has a wide variety of clubs, including a Foreign Language club, FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, a Mock Trial team, and debate club.
