Canucks Sports and Entertainment is a sports and entertainment company in Vancouver, British Columbia. It operated under the name Orca Bay Sports and Entertainment until its name change on January 29, 2008. [1]
Canucks Sports and Entertainment is the owner of GM Place and the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL
Orca Bay was previously owned by Arthur Griffiths, and then by Seattle billionaire John McCaw; it is now owned by the Aquilini Investment Group, a Vancouver-based investment company led by Francesco Aquilini. The company is the former owner of the Vancouver Grizzlies of the NBA (which was sold and moved to Memphis, Tennessee).
The company was named after the marine mammal Orca (Orcinus orca), also known as the Killer Whale, known to frequent the waters off the British Columbia coast.
