Cantharidus opalus cannoni is a subspecies of medium sized sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Trochidae, the top snails.

This subspecies is endemic to New Zealand's Chatham Islands.

This top shell lives on giant kelp.
[edit] Shell description
The shell of this subspecies is similar to Cantharidus opalus opalus, except that it is always much broader, with concave upper spire whorls and an inflated body whorl.
The shell height is up to 42 mm, and the width is up to 33 mm.
