Cantemir is a city in Moldova. It is the administrative center of Cantemir County. It was formerly known as Achendorf, but its name was changed after WWII, first to Doina, then to the current name, Cantemir.

Doina is a different village in Moldova, about 25 km from Cantemir. Cantemir as a town started in the 1970's when the canned factory was built. It was part of the Cania district and 1977 became Cantemir.
