Canonbury railway station is in the London Borough of Islington in North London. It is on the North London Line, and the station and all trains serving it is operated by London Overground. It is in Travelcard Zone 2.

The typical service at the station is 4 trains per hour westbound to Richmond via Highbury, Camden Town and Willesden, and 4 trains per hour eastbound to Stratford via Hackney.
Trains are frequently late and/or cancelled, with capacity pushed far beyond the limit, meaning that not only do passengers frequently have to stand, but they are often unable to board the train due to the overcrowding.
At this station, there are no announcements and the information monitors are frequently inoperative.
There are currently (as of summer 2007) extensive refurbishments to the ticket office.
Canonbury will be served by the phase one East London Railway service in 2011.

From 2011 the East London Line trains will call at this station as part of the line's Northern Extension to Highbury and Islington. There will be a doubling of the track along this route, and extensive remodelling of the stations.
