The Canon PowerShot S2 IS is a 5.0 megapixel digital camera that debuted in 2005. It is the second of Canon's cameras in the superzoom category, with an integrated 12x zoom lens and image stabilization technology (IS). It is succeeded by the Canon PowerShot S3 IS which has similar features but an improved 6 Megapixel CCD resolution and a larger LCD.
The S2 IS is also believed to be susceptible to a sensor failure and/or jammed iris shutter, resulting in an inability to take photographs. Canon currently denies the existence of this problem, but numerous reports available on the internet suggest otherwise.[1] [2]
