The EF 200mm USM-L lens is a prime telephoto lens made by Canon Inc. The lens has an EF mount to work with the EOS line of cameras.

When used on a digital EOS body with a crop factor of 1.6x, it provides a field of view equivalent to an 320 mm lens mounted on a film body, making it a very compact long telephoto lens.

Two versions of the lens were made, one f/2.8 and the other f/1.8.

The 200 mm f/1.8 lens is an extremely fast telephoto lens, the fastest 200mm ever produced.[2] Production was discontinued in 2004. A replacement, the Canon EF 200mm f/2 IS USM was announced 15 October 2007.[3]

The 200 mm f/2.8 lens is considered to be excellent value for money as it is Canon's second least expensive L-series lens behind the Canon EF 70-200mm lens f/4.0 zoom L-series lens. It exceeds the Canon EF 70-200mm lens f/2.8 in optical quality by a slight margin, and is significantly cheaper, lighter and less conspicuous, but at the expense of the ability to zoom, and of the Image stabilizer.[4] It sports a ring USM allowing full time manual focusing. Focusing can be made down to 1.5 metre. The first edition of this lens features an integrated hood, while the second has a twist-off one.

These lenses are compatible with the Canon Extender EF teleconverters.
