[edit] History
Canal Vie was licenced by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) on September 4, 1996 as Le Canal Vie. The licence was granted to Radiomutuel inc. and was launched on September 8, 1997 as Canal Vie.
In June 1999, Astral Media announced that it would be acquiring Radiomutuel inc. and gained control of Canal Vie.
[edit] Early existence
During at least the first few months of its existence, Canal Vie insisted on keeping a big green on-screen bar at the bottom of the screen at all time, with a sentence describing what the current program was about. At the same time, the apple logo would very slowly rotate 360 degrees.
[edit] Canal Vie HD
On October 30, 2006 Astral Media launched an HD simulcast of Canal Vie.
