Canadians in Hong Kong
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Like their American counterparts, Canadians are a sizable numbers in Hong Kong. Many are former Hong Kong residents whom carry Canadian citizenship and have returned to work and live following the handover in 1997. Some are non-Chinese whom have come to Hong Kong to work. A few actors and business people have Canadian ties.
Estimates from the Department of Foreign Affairs pegs 250,000 Canadians whom call Hong Kong their home. This number is based on the fact the consular office processes approximately 50,000 passport renewals a year and passports have a 5 year lifespan.
