Canadian Forces Search and Rescue

Canadian Forces Search and Rescue is a Search and Rescue operations within the Canadian Forces. It is comprised of a series of squadrons operting across Canada. The squadrons mostly provide maritime rescue, but also operations in remote areas. CFSAR provides assistance to civilian agencies whom lack the resources and equipment to conduct a large scale rescue operations.

  • 424 (Tiger) Transport and Rescue Squadron - 8 Wing Trenton - covering most of the Province of Quebec, all of Ontario, the Prairie Provinces and the entire Arctic.
  • 413 Transport and Rescue Squadron - 14 Wing Greenwood - south of Nova Scotia, north to Iqaluit on Baffin Island as far west as Quebec City and east out to the middle of the Atlantic
  • 435 “Chinthe” Transport and Rescue Squadron - 17 Wing Winnipeg - within the Trenton Search and Rescue Region from the border with the United States to the geographic North Pole.
  • 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron - 19 Wing Comox - operating off the west coast of Canada and Western Arctic (Yukon and NWT)
  • 103 Search and Rescue Squadron - 9 Wing Gander operating off the east coast of Canada
