Canadian Association of Magicians
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Canadian Association of Magicians began on March 15, 1997. The first goal was to provide a means for Canada to join the FISM World Championship of Magic, so that Canadian magicians could compete under the Canadian banner. CAM, as the Canadian representative of magic, was accepted into the larger magic community in July, 2000.
Since that time, CAM has expanded considerably. Each year it produces 3 Northern Peaks Magazines and 10 Northern Sleights e-zines for its members across Canada and the United States. They are dedicated to the promotion and encouragement of magic and magicians in Canada and the world. They also host the Canadian National convention, CAMaraderie every second year. Members nominate and vote for the Magician of the Year. Past recipients have included Greg Frewin, Shawn Farquhar and Murray Hatfield. The 2007 Magician of the year is James Dimmare.
