CanadaHelps is a Canadian charity that operates an online donations portal for the country's more than 80,000 charities. Created with a view to reducing charities' administrative costs and to encouraging Canadians to increase charitable giving, the organization has processed tens of millions of dollars since its inception in 1999 by university students Matthew Choi, Ryan Little and Aaron Pereira. The organization played a crucial role in Canada's relief response to the events of 9/11, which represented the first major outpouring of online charitable support from Canadians.
The donations portal lists every single charity in the country registered with the Canada Revenue Agency and operates a mirror site in French. No editorial content is provided about individual charities although certain charities are highlighted if they are associated with ongoing relief efforts.
