User talk:Camw

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Camw! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:

There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk Pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)

I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Ryan 01:00, August 5, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Your VandalProof Application

Dear Camw,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that you don't yet have the minimum of 250 mainspace edits. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof.

Sorry for forgetting to sign above! I do make exceptions for longtime members like yourself that have close to the minimum of 250 edits. However you have less than half of the minimum. Personally I had only about 200 mainspace edits when I became a VP moderator but I had more than 2000 edits total (mostly in the WP namespace) because I'm so heavily involved in "meta" work like [[WP:AfD], WP:RD, and WP:FC, so I often grant requests if users have a lot of WP namespace edits. Unfortunately that exception case doesn't apply to you either. You've also been inactive for the majority of the months that you've been a member. VP really is a powerful tool that could result in very destructive activity, so we try to restrict approval for people that obviously really know their way around wikipedia.. unfortunately I can't be confident enough about your application to make an exception. But this might not be the opinion of a different mod; you're more than welcome to ask someone else to make an exception for you. I'd be happy to approve you once you reach 250 --frothT C 02:17, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Replied to both on your page, thanks for the consideration. Camw 02:32, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Camw, I'd suggest you trying Lupin's Anti-vandal tool. Good luck.--Pethr 02:48, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to VandalProof!

Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Camw! You have now been added to the list of authorized users, so if you haven't already, simply download and install VandalProof from our main page. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or any other moderator, or you can post a message on the discussion page. frothT C 19:17, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Apologies to everyone for this notification being sent out so late, events in real life prevented me from distributing it at the time, and the Wine Project's had a bit of a lull during the Northern Hemsiphere summer. But as the nights draw in, activity should pick up again, and hopefully the next Newsletter will arrive a little more quickly....

The next few weeks are the perfect time to take photos of grapes in the Northern Hemisphere - get your cameras out! FlagSteward 16:00, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
