[edit] Speedy deletion of Dick Midkiff

A tag has been placed on Dick Midkiff requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Non-dropframe (talk) 23:15, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Script

Since I know you add WikiProject templates to lots of talk pages, you may find this script useful.   jj137 (talk) 19:32, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Wow, there is a script for everything on Wikipedia, huh? That should be really helpful -- thank you! Camanda (talk) 23:00, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I think there is! WP:JS has only some of the countless tools that make life easier on here.   jj137 (talk) 23:45, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Red Sox Good Articles?

Hello, you may remember me from my other messages. Do you happen to know any Red Sox related Good Articles? If you do, can you list them or give me a link? Thanks.--RyRy5 (talk) 03:46, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Well, if you look at the WP:GA page under "Everyday life," you can look at a ton of sports-related Good Articles. A quick look through them tells me there aren't any Red Sox articles up to Good Article status at the moment. I know Lee Smith (baseball) and Moe Berg have both been featured articles, though. If you want to look at biographical Good Articles, try Chris Young (pitcher), Tim Lincecum, Joe Nathan, J. R. Richard, Ty Cobb, and Roberto Clemente. Are you looking to bring an article up to Good Article status? Camanda (talk) 15:47, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm trying to bring Jackie Robinson to GA, but nobody has reviewed it un days. Comments?--RyRy5 (talk) 16:06, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
The article has a tag for original research and one for a missing citation, that I can see. Try Googling around and see what you can find for citations for those statements. It's also tagged for cleanup. Try out Advisor to help you clean up articles. It will give you a list of issues it finds in the article and it will autofix those issues if you want it to. Camanda (talk) 16:41, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice here and on my talkpage. I also see your a really good contributer to baseball articles. Keep it up.--RyRy5 (talk) 17:12, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

You're welcome. And thank you. Good luck with Jackie Robinson. Camanda (talk) 19:16, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Reply

I may consider using it. But I'm busy closing articles at the WP:AFD. I just closed one here. Cheers.--RyRy5 (talk) 03:28, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't see what that has to do with your vandalism-reverting -- doing one doesn't mean that you can't do the other. I can understand you're busy with other things at the moment, but my point was that if you plan to stay involved in vandal fighting (and my guess is that you do, judging by various userboxes on your userpage), you should use Twinkle. It will offer you an alternative to rollback, auto-open user talk pages after reverting their edits, and recall the name of the page for you and give you a list of useful templates. It makes my life easier and it will do the same for you. I guarantee that. It's better than having to go back and sign talk pages, or leaving unsigned warnings everywhere when you claim in a userbox that you sign all of your posts. Camanda (talk) 03:45, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
I'll clarify. "I may consider using it. By the way, I'm busy closing articles at the WP:AFD. I just closed one here. Cheers." Thanks for the advice.--RyRy5 (talk) 03:49, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
I appreciate the clarification. Good luck. Camanda (talk) 03:51, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Um. It says "Twinkle does NOT work with Internet Explorer and support for IE is not planned at the moment." I use IE. I guess I won't be using twinkle. But I will keep in mind your advice.RyRy5 (talk) 03:55, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
That's too bad. If you ever switch to Firefox, give it a shot. Camanda (talk) 03:56, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
I doubt I'll get it.--RyRy5 (talk) 03:56, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your VandalProof Application

Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Camanda. As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank again for your interest in VandalProof. βcommand 04:27, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Justin Masterson

Hello. Yes I do know. I found out yesterday. Pretty suprising. I'll add some new info soon. Comments?--RyRy5 (talk) 23:51, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Turn 2 Foundation

Do you think you can help out change the tone of the article?--RyRy5 (talk) 19:08, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

I'll take a look at it. Camanda (talk) 19:19, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
I'll be waiting.--RyRy5 (talk) 19:48, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I've cleaned it up some and added references. I removed two things: the entire "Construction" section, because (a) I don't know why it was titled that and (b) it seemed kind of out of place and I wasn't sure what to do with it, not to mention (c) it looks like the text was lifted from the source with just minor changes, which made me uncomfortable. I also took out the text that was referenced by this because I don't think an Angelfire site is a truly reliable source. If you can find a press release that also says that the "Turn 2 Foundation has reached out to kids and teens through grants to places such as: the YMCA, the Boys and Girls Club of Kalamazoo and the Bronx, a $125,000 minority college scholarship in Jeter's name, the After School Program in Harlem, and the Jeter's Leaders program," please feel free to put it back. Camanda (talk) 19:56, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks you for your time.--RyRy5 (talk) 19:58, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

You did a lot of cleanup. Well, do you think it is (almost) ready for WP:DYK nomination?--RyRy5 (talk) 20:01, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't know. I'm not familiar enough with DYK standards and procedure. You'd have to ask someone who is, like Nousernamesleft. Camanda (talk) 20:35, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
My old admin coach? OK. Cheers, and keep up the good work for the Red Sox WikiProject.--RyRy5 (talk) 20:38, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Brandon Moss

I noticed that you reverted an edit to Brandon Moss which stated that he had had an appendectomy, with the comment "Not according to anything I read." I realize that you might have been suspicious because the statement was added by an IP, and perhaps its removal is justified under WP:BLP because there was no source provided, but the fact that you personally haven't read it is probably not the best possible edit summary and might be interpreted as WP:OWNership. And then, of course, there's the fact that the statement was true; I have readded it with a source. Matchups 13:48, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

I noticed, and thanks. To be fair, I saw the addition, checked the Globe website, Googled it, and found nothing. So I removed it -- because it literally wasn't in anything I read. Thanks for putting it back. Camanda (talk) 16:59, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
