The Solar and Casa de Campoy originated in the place called "Llana", in the valley of Tudela in northern Spain and they were the "patrons" of Church of San Pelayo de Mena. The family expanded throughout Spain, but focused primarily in the Kingdom of Granada.
During the conquest of Granada by the "Catholic Kings", Ferdinand and Isabella, there was a distinguished Knight named "Ramon de Campoy" called "El Mayor". Ramon de Campoy and his son, Ramon, assisted in the capture of the city of Vera with Don Diego Lopez de Haro at the order of King Ferdinand. With the capture of this city, the King ordered that Ramon de Campoy take full charge of the Knights assigned to the city's defense.
Ramon de Campoy's descendant, Don Miguel Ramon de Campoy was the Captain of the Knights and Governor of the city of Vera and Motril. He was killed in the service of his King and his position went to his son, Don Alonso de Campoy through a Royal Order from King Phillip IV on Feb. 2, 1646.
Through a Royal Order regarding the "Casa Solar", (noble house), of Campoy of Andalucia came a legitimate descendant, Señor Don Andrés Campoy who married in the year 1740 to Doña Isabel de Lara, of the city of Malaga, Spain.
