Designed for Don Venâncio López de Ceballos y Aguirre, Count of Campo Giro, this pistol was adopted in diverse models for the Spanish army from 1912. As the Astra model 400, Produced byAstra-Unceta y Cia SA it was the weapon standard in the Spanish Civil War. Efficient insurance and, more than one hundred thousand had been manufactured for both the sides in the Civil War and 5,950 of them had been sold to the Germans in the World War II.
