[edit] Mystery Mile
Campion protects a retired American judge from assassination by inviting him and his adult children to a house owned by diminished aristocrats in the East English town of "Mystery Mile" (ages ago known as "Mist Mile"). There is a suicide, an unexplained disappearance, and a kidnapping. Campion leads two young men, one American and one British, on a midnight raid on a hideout, led by Lugg and one of his reformed criminal friends. And obviously the quicksand gets some use.
