Campaign to Save Roan Plateau

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Campaign to Save Roan Plateau is a coalition of conservation, recreation, sportsmen and wildlife organizations working to protect the Roan Plateau, an area near Rifle, Colorado that is threatened with natural gas drilling.

The Roan Plateau is located in the Piceance Basin, one of the most active natural gas areas in North America. However, approximately 52,000 acres of public land within the Roan Plateau Planning Area remain undeveloped and provide beautiful scenery, recreation opportunities and critical wildlife habitat. The Campaign to Save Roan Plateau is committed to securing lasting protection for the area's remaining undeveloped public lands.

The Campaign consists of state-based groups such as the Colorado Environmental Coalition, Colorado Mountain Club and Colorado Wildlife Federation as well as national groups such as Trout Unlimited and the Wilderness Society. The Campaign to Save Roan Plateau also works with local elected officials, local hunting and fishing organizations and citizens across Colorado.
