Camp Napoleon Council

The Camp Napoleon (or Cottonwood Grove) Council was held on May 24, 1865, (near present day Verden, Oklahoma). More than a dozen tribes in Indian Territory agreed to discontinue fighting with each other and attempted to form a confederation to maintain the integrity of Indian Territory. They also elected delegates to go to Washington to work out the details with the government.
