Camp Crook is a town in Harding County, South Dakota, United States, on the Little Missouri River (North Dakota). It was established in April of 1883 when the Cheyennes assumed a threatening attitude and their agent called upon the commanding officer of Fort Custer for protection. Major Carrol was dispatched with Troops B, D, and M of the U.S. 1st Cavalry Regiment to the Tongue River Agency, where they established Camp Crook. The population was 56 at the 2000 census.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 56 people, 28 households, and 15 families residing in the town. The population density was 406.4 people per square mile (154.4/km²). There were 51 housing units at an average density of 370.1/sq mi (140.7/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.21% White and 1.79% Native American.
There were 28 households out of which 21.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.4% were married couples living together, 10.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 42.9% were non-families. 39.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.00 and the average family size was 2.69.
In the town the population was spread out with 19.6% under the age of 18, 3.6% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 44.6% from 45 to 64, and 5.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45 years. For every 100 females there were 93.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.5 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $31,875, and the median income for a family was $33,750. Males had a median income of $29,375 versus $21,875 for females. The per capita income for the town was $30,178. There were 18.2% of families and 17.1% of the population living below the poverty line, including 33.3% of under eighteens and none of those over 64.
