From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Camelbeach Waterpark is a water park located in the Pocono Mountains, in Tannersville, Pennsylvania at Big Pocono State Park. Opened in 1998, it is the summer operation for Camelback Mountain Resort home of Camelback Ski and Snowboard Area.

[edit] Attractions

Camelbeach contains over 30 waterslides (the most in Pennsylvania) as well as many other attractions.

  • The Titan is an eight-story tall tube slide that allows up to five people per raft to ride down it. It debuted 2000. The Titan has nine curves with extra banks to keep the raft from going over the slide.
  • The Kahuna Lagoon is a wave pool which can produce up to six-foot waves, the highest man-made waves in the Northeast. It opened in 2001.
  • The Vortex and Spin Cycle are two bowl slides. Spin Cycle is ridden with a tube, and ends in a chute, while Vortex is ridden without a tube and ends in a six and a half foot deep pool. They both opened in 2002.
  • Triple Venom are three separate speed water slides, called Serpent, Viper, and Corbra, all over six stories tall. Serpent is not inclosed and allows you to experience weightlessness three times as you descend. There are three drops to it. Viper is an enclosed translucent slide. Cobra is also enclosed, but is total darkness. The Triple Venom complex opened in 2003. These rides are somewhat notorious for hurting people's backs.
  • Checkered Flag Challenge is an eight-lane slide where the participants race each other down the slide on mats try to get the best time. It includes a timing system which reveals the winner. It opened in 2004.
  • Flowrider is a ride that offers riders to ride waves lying down or standing up on a surfboard. It opened in 2006
  • Camelbeach is adding the Pharaoh's Phortress, Family Play Structure which includes 8 new watersides for the 2008 Summer Season.
