Camden College (fictional college)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Camden College is a fictional liberal arts college which appears in the works of Bret Easton Ellis, Jill Eisenstadt, and in Jonathan Lethem's book The Fortress of Solitude. Whereas Ellis' Camden College is located in New Hampshire, Lethem's Camden is in Vermont, and is notable for being the most expensive college in America.

All three of the writers attended Bennington College, which is really located in Vermont, and was at one time notorious for being the most expensive college in America.

In Bret Easton Ellis's book, The Rules of Attraction, he refers to certain names of houses: Booth, Wooley, Sawtell, to name a few. These are all names of houses at Bennington College. The Camden of Rules of Attraction also bears resemblance to Rutgers University in Camden, New Jersey.
