Domovoi Butler (known as Butler) is a fictional character in the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer. Known for his skill and strength, he is the bodyguard and mentor of the main character of the series, Artemis Fowl II.
[edit] RoleButler is a member of the Butler family, a family in the Artemis Fowl series best known for its relationship with the Fowls. The Butlers have been serving the Fowls as bodyguards since the Norman conquest.[citation needed] His "principal" (employer) is Artemis Fowl II[citation needed], the main character of the Artemis Fowl series. [edit] Description and LifeHe is described as almost seven feet tall[citation needed] and weighing 90 kilograms (200 lbs)[citation needed], with deep blue eyes[citation needed]. [edit] FamilyLittle is known about Butler's family, besides his younger sister Juliet. It is revealed in Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident that Butler's uncle (the Major) was Artemis Fowl I's bodyguard. However, in the explosion of the Fowl Star, the Major was killed and his body turned up in a morgue.[citation needed] [edit] EventsButler goes through many significant events during the series. In the first book, during the siege of Fowl Manor, Butler disarmed the elite squadron of the LEPretrieval fairy police force, as well as becoming the first known human to fight a troll and survive.[citation needed] In Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code, Butler takes a bullet to the chest during an ambush by Jon Spiro and his colleagues. He is cryogenically cooled for several hours before being healed by Holly Short of the Lower Elements Police. The healing uses up some of his own life-force, making him appear and feel about fifteen years older. Afterward, he is subjected to a "selective mind wipe" by the Lower Elements Police to erase all fairy-related memories, as they viewed him and Artemis as a threat to fairy civilization (however, his memories are restored in Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception). It is mentioned in the last few pages of Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony that twelve year old Minerva Paradizo gets Butler started reading fiction. Artemis notices classics including Moby Dick, Gormenghast, The Art of War, and Gone with the Wind [1] on the book shelf of Butler's residence in the fictional village of Duncade, Ireland [2], where he was awaiting Artemis's return. [edit] Paradizo family (Artemis Fowl)
The Paradizo family is a family featured in the Artemis Fowl series (introduced in Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony) by the Irish author Eoin Colfer. [edit] FamilyMinerva Paradizo, one of the main characters of The Lost Colony, is the daughter of Gaspard Paradizo and the older sister of 5-year old Beau. Her mother supposedly ran off with the family gardener in the years leading up to The Lost Colony. The family lives in a large estate near Nice, France known as the Château Paradizo. [edit] MinervaMinerva Paradizo is 12 years old at the time of The Lost Colony. Having an IQ similar to that of Artemis Fowl II himself[citation needed], the book reveals that she has already completed high school and had won a national spelling bee at age 4. [edit] BeauBeau is four at the time of The Lost Colony. He has an affinity for chocolate, and frequently drives around the château grounds in a toy electric car. This car is hijacked by Doodah Day in The Lost Colony to gain access to the château's surveillance system. |
