Template talk:Calendar

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Q. Is there a way to add some kind of operator or expression to this template so that on, for example, a user page, one might place a text resulting in display of a the current month's calender? In other words, one would be able to have a calendar which would automatically update according to the time zone I select? Thanks in advance for any help on this. [edit] Question about templates

Is there a legitimate reason that {{JulyCalendar}} links to {{JulyCalendar2006}} (with a current year insert) links to {{JulyCalendar2006}} links to {{JulyCalendar2006Source}} which actually contains the manual imput of the Calendar? Is there a legitimate reason for the 4 layers of building or is that just legacy format based on the history of wikipedia? I'm building a new wiki and I'm curious if there is a reason that makes ^ this the ideal format for calendars, or why wouldn't one just put {{JulyCalenderxxxxSource}} (with {{CURRENTYEAR}} in place of the xxxx) in the page that I'd want the calendar? [edit] New codbase

Have made a new system, using parserfunctions instead of static template inclusing as it's doing now. So to generate the calendar for year 1979 (can sadly only handle years between 1972 and 2037 (see Year 2038 problem)), type: {{calendar|year=1979}}, result:

[edit] Change supporting template

Would there be any objection to changing the supporting templates Template:Calendar/MonthStartSun etc. to list Sunday as the first day and changing the blue to a lighter shade? -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 03:58, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
