[edit] Question

When was this freeway built? Was the 60 freeway pre-existing? — Catherine\talk 18:57, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] This section

"There are plans to extend Route 57 south from the Orange Crush interchange to State Route 1. One such proposal is a $950 million, 4-lane, 11.2 mile (18 km) toll road from Interstate 5 to Interstate 405 along the Santa Ana River Flood Control Channel. This extension would consist of 2 two-lane viaducts running longitudinally down the river channel. However, the project faces opposition from neighborhoods around the proposed route and those who want a park along the river. The Army Corps of Engineers, which has major flood-control jurisdiction over the river, has also opposed the plan because of possible impacts on the flood channel. Therefore the Route 57 will probably not end at Route 1. Recently, Caltrans and OCTA have suggested to extend the Route 57 to Interstate 405 in Costa Mesa to meet the exit of the Orange County South Coast Plaza, closer to the Route 55 and possibly slightly west to where the Route 73 ends, making the tollway run slightly southeast after the Orange Crush Interchange. [1] The California Coastal Commission voted 8-2 on Feburary 6th against the project that created controversy along the riverbank.[2] Right now the future of the project remains unknown."

I thought the vote 8-2 on Feb 6th is the 241 South extension to the 5. I don't really know about the 241 South plan. There is no answer yet, and they won't bother until 2011 I thought. The state governor needs this but the coastal team enviornment is not accepting this. I hope this would be. This has nothing to do with 57 South extension. I thought the meeting is November 2004; This is unlikely to ever happen for many reasons. A. the stripping away of houses; B. the Orange County River pollution, C. strip away of the stores. The 57 South extension is almost impossible since Hunt. Bch is a wonderful place in Orange County. The extension to the 405 is unlikely either.--Freewayguy (Meet) 20:48, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
I also seen the golf course in Fountain Valley. If they put the 57 South there , it will cuase them to uproot all those golf course and the huge park. It will cause pollution to Orange County River. There is too many problemsa and resaistances on extending the 57. and I dont think it will even do it. Now the Orange Co. Envirnment People is getting tire of building all those Tollways causing loss of point of interest (133 to 241, making the 241 and the 261).--Freewayguy (Meet) 20:43, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orange Freeway extension

I know why they want to extend the 57 is because they want to make the Coast Highway a Coast Freeway. i hadnt hear much stories so this seems cetrainly impossible.--Freewayguy (talk) 19:54, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
