[edit] Calgary centre west?

Shouldn't this riding be called Calgary centre west since half of it lies in West Calgary. Calgoorlie, March 17, 2006 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.117.79.209 (talkcontribs)

No. This is the legal name of a political riding. The names of political ridings do not necessarily reflect any literal description of the territory covered. —GrantNeufeld 04:11, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Its a creation of Alberta's conservative establishment, as the previous riding of Calgary centre which was really a central riding was bound to elect a Liberal MP sooner or later, it most certainly would have gone to Levy if Joe Clark hadnot run here as a PC. This alarmed the Conservative establishment and they made sure the riding was severed in two when the riding boundaries were reconstituted to add one more riding in Calgary. Politics as usual. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.145.76.44 (talk) 20:00, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
