Talk:Calf muscle

I agree. And would google reveal any slightly more wikipedia-fit pictures? 02:32, 20 October 2006 (UTC)~

[edit] Why is it called calf muscle?
The name of the pair of muscles--calf muscles--is a mystery to me. Can anyone shed light on the origin of the term "calf?"

[edit] Different name?
Maybe we could rename this article 'gastrosoleus complex' instead of calf. It's more encyclopedic and a better description.
[edit] Different Picture?
The current picture does not show an average human calf muscle. It is confusing and the muscle appears to be overdeveloped or diseased. I vote for a more medical looking picture to be uploaded that shows an average calf muscle. 76.116.109.221 17:16, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed. Maelkoch (talk) 10:54, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Also shouldn't there be a rear view of the muscle? The actually photo doesn't look that good either! Govvy (talk) 11:46, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
