[edit] Spiritual and political beliefs

He is a major proponent of liberation theology in the African American church and openly rejects the inerrancy of biblical scripture and classic interpretation in favour of more liberal interpretations.

He has gone on the record of supporting homosexuality and same-sex unions on the understanding that the "Apostle Paul was not Jesus" and therefore Christians were not bound to specific teachings by apostles, a view that is not consistent with classical Christian theology and doctrine.[1]

In the clip Butts states,Its that thuggish thuggish bone. "We're not against rap. We're not against rappers. But we are against those thugs."[citation needed]
