Callochiton is a genus of chitons in the family Callochitonidae.
They are small to moderately large, ovate, with a surface smooth to the eye but actually densely and minutely granulose. The lateral areas are slightly raised, and the central area has obsolete to well developed pits or longitudinal grooves. The girdle is thick, composed of a dense mass of elongate spicules, the tops of which impart a minutely scaly external surface. The head valve has from 14 to 23 slits, the median valves about three, and the tail valve from 11 to 18.
Species in this genus are found around Great Britain, the Mediterranean, South Africa, the Antarctic, Australia, and New Zealand.
