Calliostoma pellucidum forsteriana is a subspecies of medium-sized sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc. Some authors have placed this genus in the family Calliostomatidae, other malacologists have left it in the family Trochidae.
[edit] Distribution
This subspecies is endemic to the South and Stewart islands of New Zealand.
[edit] Shell description
The shell is rather large. Only the tip of the spire is concave, and the rest of the whorls are slightly convex. The periphery is subangled. The spiral sculpture is finer and beaded cords are more numerous than in other subspecies, apart from Calliostoma pellucidum morioria. The spiral cords are regularly dotted in light brown, but larger maculations are faint.
The shell height is up to 51 mm, and the width is up to 53 mm.
