Calimete is a municipality and city in the Matanzas Province of Cuba.

The city was founded in 1867 by José Antonio Castañeda.[1]

In 2004, the municipality of Calimete had a population of 29,736.[3] With a total area of 958 km² (369.9 sq mi),[2] it has a population density of 31.0/km² (80.3/sq mi).
