California Feelin'
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"California Feelin'" is a song written by Brian Wilson and Stephen Kalinich in the early to mid 1970's - believed to be 1976 - that was originally intended to be recorded by The Beach Boys, although it was never released or recorded by the band members of The Beach Boys. Brian Wilson has quoted the song as being "a favorite of mine". The song was however recorded by Brian Wilson's touring band, the The Wondermints. The song was released on the 2002 compilation album Classics selected by Brian Wilson.
Edit: The song was written in 1974 and was recorded by Brian Wilson in November of 1974 in a session that was engineered by Chuck Britz. Another version was recorded in 1978 by the Beach Boys with Carl Wilson and Bruce Johnston on lead vocal. Neither of these versions were ever officially released (and only the 1978 version is available in bootleg collections). It is interesting to note that the 1974 version is the last time Brian recorded his voice before he wounded it with cigarettes and cocaine abuse. - Marc Davis
