California Crossing is the eighth Fu Manchu album release, released under Mammoth Records. It features Scott Hill (vocals and guitar), Bob Balch (guitar), Brant Bjork (drums) and Brad Davis (bass). California Crossing is the last album to date featuring Brant Bjork on drums. The song "Mongoose" is a new version of the same named song on Fu Manchu's 1999 album Eatin' Dust
A music video was produced for "Squash That Fly," which saw moderate airplay upon release.

Singer/guitarist Scott Hill plays keyboards on the track "Hang on".
Keith Morris, singer of the hardcore punk band Circle Jerks sings on "Bultaco". This again shows Fu Manchu's strong punk rock background.
The lyrics of the song California crossing were written by Rodney Skelton, bassplayer of Speedealer who were touring with Fu Manchu.
