California's 36th congressional district covers part of Los Angeles County, notably Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Torrance and Venice, and is currently represented by Democrat Jane Harman. Rep. Harman is a member of the Blue Dog Coalition of Conservative Democrats.

John Kerry received 59% of the vote in this district in 2004; George W. Bush received 40%.[1] The district voted for Arnold Schwarzenegger 52.5-43% in 2006,[2] Dianne Feinstein 63-31% in 2006,[3] Barbara Boxer 62-33% in 2004,[4] recalling Gray Davis 52-48%[5] and Schwarzenegger 48-32%[6] in 2003, and Davis 49.5-40% in 2002.[7]
