California's 17th Assembly District is one of 80 districts in the California State Assembly. It is currently represented by Democrat Cathleen Galgiani of Tracy.

The district currently consists of the entirety of Merced County, a third of San Joaquin County (August, Country Club, French Camp, Kennedy, Lathrop, Stockton, Taft Mosswood, Tracy), and a small portion of Stanislaus County (Grayson, Newman, and Westley).

The 17th district is a strongly Democratic district, with 52.5% of registered voters being registered Democrats and 34.7% registered Republicans.
