California's 14th Assembly district

California's 14th Assembly District is one of 80 districts in the California State Assembly. It is currently represented by Democrat Loni Hancock of Berkeley.

Hancock is a candidate for District 9 State Senator on the June 3, 2008 ballot, opposed by former Assembly member Wilma Chan of Oakland. Candidates to represent the 14th Assembly District on the June 3 ballot include Democrats Phil Polakoff, Nancy Skinner, Tony Thurmond, and Kriss Worthington.

The district currently consists of northwestern Alameda County (Oakland, Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville) and southeastern Contra Costa County (East Richmond Heights, El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Kensington, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, Pleasant Hill, Richmond, Rollingwood, San Pablo, Waldon).

The 14th district is a strongly Democratic district, with 59.0% of registered voters being registered Democrats and 18.3% registered Republicans.
