Calf of Flotta

The Calf of Flotta is a small island in Scapa Flow, Orkney. The Calf is next to Flotta, with "Calf" deriving from Old Norse/Norn) and meaning a smaller island by a larger one.

The surrounding waters of Scapa Flow are riddled with German ships, scuttled in 1919, after their surrender.[1]

The Calf is made up of red sandstone.[1]

It is approximately half a mile long, and is thin in shape, orientated west-east.
