Calathumpian

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Calathumpian, from the Latin “calathus” (rubbish bin), is a description applied, sometimes pejoratively, to individuals who believe things that others have thrown in the rubbish. Sometimes spelled "callathumpian" and "calithumpian".

It is also used in a non-judgmental way to describe one's religion or philosophy when it is original, personally assembled, and not institutionalized.

In addition it sometimes seems to be used as a non-specific example of a religious or political persuasion. For instance "just because a Calathumpian believes 'x', does not make it right".
