Coordinates: Calangute is a census town in North Goa in the state of Goa, India. It is famous for its beach, visited by domestic and international tourists alike. The peak tourist season is during Christmas and New Year, and during the summer in May. In the monsoon season, June through September, the sea can be rough, and swimming is prohibited.
To the north lies Baga, and south Candolim. Calangute remains warm through the year with little temperature fluctuations. Languages spoken include Konkani, Marathi and English. The town is popular due to water sports, which are offered on the beaches of Calangute.

As of 2001 India census,[1] Calangute had a population of 15,776. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Calangute has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 78% and female literacy of 67%. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
