Calamari Productions

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Calamari Productions is an independent television and digital media production company specializing in child welfare and juvenile justice programming. The company has the unique distinction of being the only television production company in the nation with state Supreme Court access in numerous states to film inside America's child welfare and juvenile courts, juvenile detention centers and juvenile prisons. Calamari's access has resulted in numerous award winning documentary films and network teleivison series for outlets including MTV, Datelline NBC, MSNBC, A&E, Court TV, PBS and more (Indianapolis Monthly Magazine, February, 2008). The company's unprecedented foray into the U.S. juvenile justice system is most unique due to the fact that these venues are--by law--closed to the media and public. Bestowed with the prestigious National Edward R. Murrow Award, two-time winner of the national Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism, an Emmy award and 13 additional national awards for efforts on behalf of children and families, Calamari Productions operates out of Indianapolis, Indiana with satellite offices in New York and Los Angeles.
