The genus Cajanus is a member of the family Fabaceae and includes the Pigeon pea (C. cajan), Cajanus scarabaeoides and other species. The genus in distributed across Australasia, with a number of species endemic to Australia.

Cajanus species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Endoclita malabaricus.
