This is a detailed explanation for the {{uw-chat1}} warnings user:Cailil placed on MoritzB's talk page. Please note this page has been carefully written to abide by the full policy of assume good faith and is written with the final paragraph in mind
[The assume good faith policy] does not require that editors continue to assume good faith in the presence of evidence to the contrary. Actions inconsistent with good faith include repeated vandalism, confirmed malicious sockpuppetry, and lying. Assuming good faith also does not mean that no action by editors should be criticized, but instead that criticism should not be attributed to malice unless there is specific evidence of malice.
[edit] Specific sopaboxing violations
- leading to Level 2 warning on August 31st 2007:
Talk:White people (see this long convesation here and these specific diffs: [1][2][3][4][5][6]. All of the above, over the course of 2 days, led to Cailil's level 2 warning. Cailil felt that a level 2 was appropriate considering the length of disruption and the fact that MoritzB has had more than 2 months experience on WP.
MoritzB's objections were to a long list of academic scholarship that was posted by Slrubenstein at Talk:White people. The list is a collection of scholarly and academic books about cultural studies of the white race. After 2 days MoritzB begins to object to Noel Ignatiev and his book How the Irish Became White . MoritzB later tried to excuse his objection to the whole field of cultural studies by the fact that Ignatiev, one author, is a marxist (see User_talk:MoritzB#Soapboxing_and_using_talkpage_as_a_forum).
- Level 3 warning for continued soapboxing on own talk page - September 5th 2007
a week after getting the first warning MoritzB began an Reductio ad Hitlerum about critical theory (see here and the diffs [7][8][9].
- Level 4 warning for repeated soapboxing, first for repeated soapboxing on the neo-marxism issue WP:ANI but also for further issues at other articles (ie Dysgenics[10]; Homosexuality (see this discussion Talk:Homosexuality#Ethical_aspects_of_homosexuality and these diffs[11][12]))

A final note from User:Cailil. I was totally uninvolved in any of these discussions with MoritzB. I made one comment on Talk:White people in or around August 19th 2007 and then to warn MoritzB that wikipedia is not a soapbox on August 31st. It was repeatedly pointed out to MoritzB that he was soapboxing by Slrubenstein on Talk:White people but MoritzB did not modify this behaviour. After the level 3 warning MoritzB continued to soapbox and troll talk pages. And today (September 8th 2007) he returned yet again to the issue of "neo-marxism" - I felt it was appropriate and necessary to give a final warning in this case. If I am wrong I have no problem retracting it--Cailil talk 17:33, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
