[edit] Vandalism log
- Mohamed Atta and Saddam Hussein have been repeatedly deleted from this page, most recently on 1 April 2006 by 196.204.158.128. If you feel they shouldn't be included, please explain why and include sources. Otherwise, your IP address may be blocked. Jessesamuel 14:27, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

- It is clear that this is a content dispute, not an act of vandalism, and it's turning into an edit war. What is the point of insisting on including fringe personalities who attended the university? A tidbit on each person's page should suffice. I removed the list altogether. — Zerida 22:03, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
I see you took it upon yourself to delete the list. Saddam Hussein and Mohamed Atta are absolutely not fringe personalities, nor is their time at Cairo University insigniificant in understanding the role of CU in the region. From what I can see, it's customary to include a list of notable alumni on articles about institutions of higher learning. It has been vandalism because whoever keeps deleting information from the page is unidentified and leaves no explanation or reason for their "edits" despite repeated requests/warnings. Jessesamuel 23:31, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- There is no evidence that the edits were made by only one person since they all came from different IP addresses (although I do agree that they should leave a note.) I also just checked a dozen different articles on universities around the world on Wikipedia, and found most of them to have a link to a separate article listing alumni. Instead of reverting back-and-forth, how about creating a separate list of alumni and make it broad enough so that the focus is not on personalities considered non-notable in the university's home country? Finally, to the last editor, please don't trivialize the issue by making comments like "if the uni has produced lots of unloved people, then that's life" which are unhelpful and uncalled for, not to mention the "lots" is based on no evidence. — Zerida 01:01, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
- I did not say that they produced "lots" - I said that "if" that was the case, then it must be documented, rather than whitewashed. It is about a list of notable who have atteneded the university. If you feel that it is producing an uneven negative portrayal of the university, then put in some "positive" alumni. Regards, ßlηguγΣη | Have your say!!! - review me 01:04, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think a separate page for alumni is a reasonable idea. I'll start researching it. However, I don't think notability within Egypt should be an exclusive criterion. I would prefer to leave to Egyptian users or experts the task of identifying those notable graduates who went on to prominence in Egypt. CU really serves as a regional university, not a national one. - Fair enough! I may be able to help a little and ask other users who know more to do as well. — Zerida 02:05, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
- I finished the page (instead of studying as I should have). I'm pretty proud of it, and I learned a lot. Now let's see if Mohamed Atta and Saddam Hussein get erased again. Will you help me monitor it and restore it if necessary? Jessesamuel 06:17, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for putting so much effort into the list. I learned quite a bit from it myself, and I'm sure others will benefit from it as well. I added it to my watchlist — Zerida 01:46, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
