[edit] Noise & Pollution of boats

I have reverted the sentence back in - as someone who lives 500yards from those very same modern boats I can give firm assurances that they aren't quiet and they do cause pollution! The new port at Cairnryan will be much closer to housing, and there is no doubt that the boats will impact on those people. This has been a point of contention which has been raised in local press in regard to the move. I am quite amenable to adding the statements of assurance given by the companies (namely they are trialling mufflers to reduce the noise), but the outcome of these trials is not yet known, and complete elimination of noise simply isn't going to happen. I should point out that I am not a NIMBY on this issue, I added the bits and bobs mainly to address the changes facing the village, one of which is the problems that those changes are going to bring. If you have any problems with my revert I am happy to discuss the issue – cheers for adding a bit of structure to the article.SFC9394 19:59, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
